Canada's Diaper Ladies is a Manitoba based company that is owned by Norine and Penny Gibson; a mother daughter team both with firsthand experience in cloth diapering. Norine used cloth on all three of her children and Penny is currently using cloth on her first child.

They decided to start Canada's Diaper Ladies after looking all over Winnipeg for an affordable and convenient cloth diapering system for Penny's baby. With little selection in their price range they turned to the internet where they were overwhelmed by the selection and prices. After much confusion and frustration and Penny's due date right around the corner Penny opted for the most inexpensive and least convenient diapering system known as flat diapers (what women in the 40's and 50's used). This system consisted of 48 flat diapers, 8 pins and 8 diaper covers.

Upon bringing her daughter home from the hospital Penny was anxious to try one of her folded flat diapers on. After nearly poking the baby with the pin it was apparent they would not be using flat diapers. Not wanting to admit she had made the wrong decision Penny enlisted her mother Norine to help make these now useless flat diapers into a useable system.

After several nights of gathering supplies, drawing patterns, cutting and sewing they had developed a very easy to use hour glass shaped diaper with Velcro tabs eliminating the need for those dangerous pins.

By the time Penny's daughter was four weeks old she was wearing her cloth diapers 24/7 and hasn't seen a disposable since. Over the following months Norine and Penny developed their diapering system that incorporated all of their favourite features from their many trials.
